Number words in Nepal
Nepal, like the rest of South Asia, groups large numbers by thousand, lakh and crorerather than the Western thousand–million–billion. So Rs 1,50,000 is “One Lakh Fifty Thousand” (एक लाख पचास हजार), not “150 thousand”. Writing the amount in words is required on cheques and is common on invoices and official letters to prevent tampering, which is why this converter gives both the plain words and the ready-to-write rupees amount in English and Nepali.
Frequently asked questions
How does this convert numbers to words?
It uses the South-Asian lakh–crore system, so 1,00,000 is 'One Lakh' and 1,00,00,000 is 'One Crore'. It gives both English and Nepali (Devanagari) words.
Can I get the rupees amount in words for a cheque?
Yes. The 'Amount' outputs format the number as money — for example 'One Thousand One Hundred Thirty Rupees Only' and 'एक हजार एक सय तीस रुपैयाँ मात्र' — ready to write on a cheque, bill or invoice.
What is the largest number it supports?
It handles values up to the kharab range (and beyond), covering everyday business and personal amounts.
