Password Generator

Create strong, random passwords and memorable passphrases that never leave your device. Adjust the length and character types, generate in bulk, and copy with one tap.

Strength: Very strong~129 bits of entropy

🔒 Generated entirely in your browser using your device’s secure random generator. Nothing is sent over the internet or stored.

    How to use it

    1. Pick Password (random characters) or Passphrase (memorable words).
    2. Set the length or number of words and choose which character types to include.
    3. Watch the strength meter — aim for “Strong” or “Very strong”.
    4. Tap Copy, or generate several at once and Copy all.

    What makes a password strong?

Strength comes from unpredictability, measured in bits of entropy — each extra bit doubles the number of guesses an attacker needs. Length matters more than complexity: a long passphrase of random words can be stronger and far easier to remember than a short jumble of symbols. This generator uses your browser’s cryptographically secure random source, so every character or word is genuinely unpredictable.

    Staying safe online

    • Use a different password for every account — so one leak can’t unlock the rest.
    • Use a password manager to store long random passwords you don’t need to remember.
    • Memorise a strong passphrase for the few logins you type often (your email, your password manager).
    • Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) wherever it’s offered.
    • Never share a password over email, SMS, or to anyone who calls or messages you — banks and companies never ask for it.

    Privacy

Everything happens in your browser. No password or passphrase is ever uploaded, logged, or saved — the tool even works offline. For peace of mind you can disconnect from the internet before generating. See our privacy policy.

    Frequently asked questions

Are these passwords safe to use?

Yes. They are generated in your browser using the device's cryptographically secure random generator (Web Crypto), with bias-free sampling. Nothing is sent to any server, logged, or stored — once you close the page, the password is gone unless you saved it.

What's the difference between a password and a passphrase?

A password is a string of random characters (like K7#vµ2pL). A passphrase is several random words joined together (like brave-otter-maple-river-92), which is much easier to remember and type while still being strong. Use a passphrase for things you must memorise, and a long random password (saved in a password manager) for everything else.

How long should my password be?

Longer is stronger. For random passwords, 16+ characters with a mix of types is good; 20+ is better. For passphrases, use at least 5–6 words. The strength meter shows the estimated entropy in bits — aim for 60+ bits ('Strong') or 80+ bits ('Very strong') for important accounts.

What does 'no look-alike characters' do?

It removes characters that are easy to confuse — capital I, lowercase l, the number 1, capital O, and the numbers/letters 0 and o — so the password is easier to read and type correctly, especially when written down.

Can I generate many passwords at once?

Yes. Use the 'How many to generate' slider to create up to 50 at a time, then copy them individually or all at once — handy when setting up multiple accounts or devices.
