How to use the Nepali Patro
For the easiest view, start with बिदा र महत्वपूर्ण मिति. Choose सरकारी बिदा, चाडपर्व, शुभ साइत or सबै मिति and read the dates in one simple vertical list. Tap a row to open that date in the full Patro below. In the detailed calendar, the large number is the Bikram Sambat day and the smaller number is the corresponding Gregorian day. Coloured dots mark public holidays, festivals and published auspicious dates.
What “public holiday” means in Nepal
Nepal’s annual holiday notice is more detailed than a simple red-day calendar. Some holidays apply throughout the country, while others are limited to Kathmandu Valley, particular districts, communities, women employees or educational institutions. Tools Pasal keeps that scope visible instead of presenting every festival as a nationwide closure.
| Calendar label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Nationwide | Government and public bodies across Nepal |
| Kathmandu Valley | Valley-specific jatra holiday such as Indra Jatra |
| Regional | Specified province, district, hill or Terai area |
| Community-specific | Only the community named in the Gazette notice |
| Women / education | Limited employee or institution holiday |
How daily tithi is determined
तिथि is a lunar-calendar measure based on each 12-degree change in the angular separation of the Moon and Sun. It can begin or end at any clock time and may span parts of two civil dates. This page uses the tithi present at Kathmandu sunrise, following the normal Panchanga day convention, and shows an approximate ending time in Nepal time.
The daily calculation is generated offline with the MIT-licensed Panchang TS engine and Astronomy Engine, using Kathmandu coordinates, UTC+5:45 and Lahiri ayanamsa. It was checked against known 2083 festival anchors including Janai Purnima, Krishna Janmashtami, Vijaya Dashami, Laxmi Puja and Bhai Tika. Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti’s approved publication remains authoritative for धार्मिक कर्म and disputed boundary times.
Auspicious dates are purpose-specific
“शुभ साइत” is not one universal label. विवाह, व्रतबन्ध, गृह प्रवेश, अन्नप्राशन and other rites have different published date lists. This first edition includes the official 2083 wedding dates plus selected गृह प्रवेश and नवान्नप्राशन dates. They are general annual dates, not a personalised horoscope or guarantee that every hour of that date is suitable.

Frequently asked questions
What does this Nepali Calendar 2083 show?
It shows BS and AD dates, weekdays, Kathmandu sunrise tithi, major festivals, official public-holiday scope and selected 2083 auspicious dates published by Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti.
Is every festival a public holiday in Nepal?
No. Some dates are nationwide holidays, while others apply only to a region, community, women employees, educational institutions or Kathmandu Valley. The day details show the relevant scope.
Why can tithi change during the day?
A tithi is based on the angular separation of the Sun and Moon, so it does not follow a fixed midnight-to-midnight day. This calendar labels the tithi active at Kathmandu sunrise and shows its approximate ending time.
Are the विवाह and गृह प्रवेश dates personalised advice?
No. They are general dates from the official 2083 muhurta publication. A suitable time for a particular person, location or ceremony may require advice from a qualified ज्योतिषी or पुरोहित.
Which source is authoritative for a government holiday?
The Nepal Gazette and notices published by the Ministry of Home Affairs are authoritative. Holiday declarations can also be amended during the year, so check the latest official notice before making travel or office plans.
